L’épicentre or la table des épices means the centre of spices, the table of spices.. BUT:
I would not only call it center I almost felt like being in an atelier of a cook which is the king of spices.
He knows how to cook it…the food mother earth gave us
He knows how to foam it…the sauce he conceptually created
He knows how to spice it…the result, the mix of all the ingredients
and finally he knows how to present it and talk us trough the meal he mastered with precision and love!
L’épicentre is a very interesting restaurant concept here in Geneva, open Monday till Fridays and booked out mostly everyday, so better make your reservation.
It is a restaurant that makes you feel as if you are in somebody’s living room or atelier place.
Small and cosy you get to experience either a
5 course menu which they labeled as the classic, a 7 course menu= the gourmand, or you go all the way out and choose the 9 course menu which makes you the adventurer.
The other nice and important side note is that although it is not a vegan restaurant but local, organic and well sourced it offers all the options in vegan.
Of course I took this opportunity and treated myself for a 9 course adventure vegan dinner that made me a classic gourmand adventurer!!
Each part of the 9 chapters, and it really felt like a nice book to discover with your mouth, the chef cook came and explained all the beautiful ingredients.
Definitely it makes you feel special when you know the endive you bite in was marinated for 14 hours and being surrounded by a foamed grapefruit cloud…
The whole menu was well thought trough and the master of the kitchen mentions that making it vegan made it very interesting and a great challenge for him.
YES. Being “limited” is more fun and makes the spicy table- “La table des épices” even more useful…
Happy I left, honoured holding the scrabbled paper of the artists menu with a note back to him and including the restaurant saying:
He makes art that makes your mouth get watery..
He makes food a whole new experience.
By the look you get bedazzled,
by the smell you feel the goodness,
with the bite and taste you know,
this needs to be eaten concious with closed eyes to sense all the spices and all the love and care he puts inside….
